Designer Spotlight: Double Stitch Twins

I absolutely adore Erika and Monika Simmons a.k.a. the Double Stitch Twins. Their designs are so unique, colorful, bold, and beautifully sculptured.

My love affair with the Double Stitch Twin’s designs began with the Trendy Top Overlay. After working up that pattern over a day. I was addicted. (WARNING: Their patterns are so addictive you will find yourself making the patterns back to back to back.) I had to force myself to take a break so, that I could focus on making patterns from my other books and magazines.

I have made quite a few of their patterns and all of them aren’t even listed on my Ravelry account but, here are the patterns I have made so far: Trendy Top Overlay, Springtime Circle Vest, Tailored Vest, Trippy Tunic, Two-Tone Shrug, Textured Wristers, Any Day Cardigan, Puff Sleeve Jacket, and Layered Chain Scarf.

Their patterns range from a level of Easy to Intermediate. Also, it doesn’t hurt that they have a very large collection of free patterns on Red Heart Yarns free website. Check them out HERE. Also, if you find yourself wanting even more Double Stitch designs check out their books: (1) Fashion Forward by the Double Stitch Twins (2)  Double Stitch: Designs for the Crochet Fashionista (3) The Crochet Fashionista Workshop.

I usually get many compliments whenever I wear one of their designs but, I must admit that their Trippy Tunic was VERY popular with everyone. I received so many compliments from wearing it that I even became overwhelmed. LOL. Not that I’m complaining 😉

I’ll leave you with a few pictures of some of my favorite designs by them:

Here are a few pics of me wearing their designs that I made:

Designer Spotlight: Mari Lynn Patrick

If you buy as many crochet and knit magazines as I do you will definitely see this name pop up every time. Mari Lynn Patrick definitely makes the list as one of my FAVORITE DESIGNERS EVER! I love that her patterns are classic yet, so unique. And I love that she designs for both genres of knit and crochet.

The main magazines you will see Mari Lynn Patrick’s designs in are: Vogue Knitting, Knit Simple, and Crochet Today.

One of my first wearable pieces was designed by her. It was the Versatile Vest in the March/April 2009 issue of Crochet Today. I have worn it about 3 times this winter and I even made my mother one. The next design of hers I made was The Julia Jacket from the November/December 2011 issue of Crochet Today.

Great Fact: Mari Lynn’s Patrick designs have been featured in Vogue Knitting since the beginning of its relaunch.

Ok, I could go on and on about her greatness but, let me show you some brief pics of the items I made from her designs:
