Designer Spotlight: Double Stitch Twins

I absolutely adore Erika and Monika Simmons a.k.a. the Double Stitch Twins. Their designs are so unique, colorful, bold, and beautifully sculptured.

My love affair with the Double Stitch Twin’s designs began with the Trendy Top Overlay. After working up that pattern over a day. I was addicted. (WARNING: Their patterns are so addictive you will find yourself making the patterns back to back to back.) I had to force myself to take a break so, that I could focus on making patterns from my other books and magazines.

I have made quite a few of their patterns and all of them aren’t even listed on my Ravelry account but, here are the patterns I have made so far: Trendy Top Overlay, Springtime Circle Vest, Tailored Vest, Trippy Tunic, Two-Tone Shrug, Textured Wristers, Any Day Cardigan, Puff Sleeve Jacket, and Layered Chain Scarf.

Their patterns range from a level of Easy to Intermediate. Also, it doesn’t hurt that they have a very large collection of free patterns on Red Heart Yarns free website. Check them out HERE. Also, if you find yourself wanting even more Double Stitch designs check out their books: (1) Fashion Forward by the Double Stitch Twins (2)  Double Stitch: Designs for the Crochet Fashionista (3) The Crochet Fashionista Workshop.

I usually get many compliments whenever I wear one of their designs but, I must admit that their Trippy Tunic was VERY popular with everyone. I received so many compliments from wearing it that I even became overwhelmed. LOL. Not that I’m complaining 😉

I’ll leave you with a few pictures of some of my favorite designs by them:

Here are a few pics of me wearing their designs that I made:

So, check them out if you haven’t already!

  1. Great designs, but when you are modeling something, the undergarment needs to be a contrast color so the details of your items will show. Such as the black on black ~ the topper details just fade into the sheath. I have a couple I will probably try to make!

  2. i love the doublestitch twins too. These sistahs are what got me back into crochet …..i think i’ll start a new project now ……..

  3. I also love the designs by the Double Stitch Twins. Thank you for sharing the pictures of you wearing some of their designs that you’ve made. You did a great job and I love how the weaving in your hair goes with the patterns in the dress and shrug!
